What it does
- Under a Read of an image file in the transcript, the image itself is shown, not just the filename.
- /img opens a dedicated pane. Non-PNG images are converted and cached.
Requirements
- Claude Code 2.1.287+.
- A terminal that supports the Kitty graphics protocol, such as Ghostty or kitty. Other terminals only show the filename.
- Converting non-PNG formats uses tools like sips, ImageMagick or ffmpeg if installed.
Good to know
- PNG previews are capped at 2 MiB, and only the last few images in a group are shown.
How to get it
- Clone hedingerm/image-preview and load it with --plugin-dir, or follow its README.
