What it does
- During a turn it records each Edit, Write and MultiEdit call: the file plus the text before and after.
- When the turn ends a hint appears above the prompt. Open it to get a pane with one edit per step, added/removed line counts, a short colored diff, and Prev / Next / Close buttons.
- It only watches: it never blocks, changes or delays an edit.
How to get it
- Clone anthropics/claude-code-playground and run Claude Code with --plugin-dir pointed at claude-code/mods/replay-theater.
- Or add the clone's claude-code/mods folder as a marketplace and install it.
What you can learn from its code
If you are writing your own mod, this one is a good example of:
- Recording tool calls without changing them
- Grouping work by turn
- A slash command with a pane and hotkeys
