What it does
- After each turn the band shows an icon and word (Clear, Cloudy, Showers, Storm, Compact soon), the percentage of context used, tokens used out of the window, a small chart of the last 12 turns, and how much the last turn added.
- The figures are read from $.session.usage(), the same numbers the status line shows, so they are real rather than estimated.
- It is the smallest of the three official samples: one hooks module and one line of UI.
How to get it
- Clone anthropics/claude-code-playground and start Claude Code with --plugin-dir pointed at claude-code/mods/token-weather to try it for one session.
- To keep it, add the clone's claude-code/mods folder as a marketplace and install it from there.
What you can learn from its code
If you are writing your own mod, this one is a good example of:
- Drawing in the AbovePrompt band
- Reading context usage
- turn.complete hook
